#40 – Bayside Brownie Company

October 12, 2019

This week we meet Tracy from the Bayside Brownie Company, based out of Wynnum. You may have seen the cool Kombi making deliveries, and the stall at the Jan Power Markets, and other local events. We have swooned over Tracy’s brownie’s in the past, and when a previous WIW guest, Cheryl mentioned about them in our catchup, I thought I must make contact. So glad that I was able to, and just wipe the chocolate off my face before walking back in the door at home. ūüėÄ

What brought you to the area?
My husband Allan’s work brought us to SEQ in 2005, but we had the option of choosing where to live, and the waterfront, along with the close proximity to Brisbane and the airport – this was an easy choice and one we have been very happy with.

You can find Tracy at the Jan Power Markets
A fresh batch ready to be made!

Who or What would you like me to cover in future posts on When in Wynnum?
Tenille Laurance at little birdie hair Co + the bird barber opened her second salon + barber in Wynnum and is a local and is very passionate about the environment and has a whole host of practices in place such as recycling the hair from the cuts, encouraging refilling the shampoo and conditioner containers and also has a day where money from each customer goes to charity for the day.

The other one is Manly Marina Cove Motel – it’s tucked away beside the RQYS and is a little hidden gem with great locals running it

Thanks again Sean, it’s great to see people with passion and sharing with the locals – thanks for being that voice!

The brownies were so good, and some of them may have been harmed (eaten) during the shoot.
Soooo many things come out of the kitchen, not just brownie slice

#10 – Mangrove Boardwalk

19th May, 2017

This week we visit another place in Wynnum. ¬†The Mangrove Boardwalk is located north of the Bugs¬†Rugby club, close to the carpark for the off leash dog park. ¬†I am surprised by the number of people that I have chatted with over the years that haven’t been to the boardwalk or even know about it.

Glad I didn’t drop my camera!

Areas to sit and take it in are available

Springy underfoot if you are jogging

There is a platform to view Wynnum and Islands

At high tide, you can watch the fish tidy up around the trees

#2 – Cranks Bicycle Garage

March 26, 2017 – Cranks Bicycle Garage

The cranks family

This week we meet the family behind the business Cranks Bicycle Garage.  I have known this family for a few years now, and they are very supportive of the local community. El took part in riding a fixed gear bike in a relay team across Australia last year to raise money for charity!  Incredible effort and looked to be an experience locked away in the memory forever!

Eloise rode this bike across the country in a charity relay event

The best open sign I have ever seen!

What brought you to Wynnum?

We both love the water! Being close to the ocean is important to us both.

Now we have a chance to combine our love of cycling with living in the Wynnum area and contribute to our local community through our family owned business.

They start their mechanics at an early age

Do you have any interesting / memorable experiences in Wynnum?

We also love to contribute through Cranks wherever we can in creating a like minded community. Cycling is a passion for us and encouraging others to get out on the roads or pathways is something we love! Helping people gain experience and learn to cycle safely is important to us; cycling is for everyone!

Wynnum is an awesome place to live if you love being a part of an active, energetic fitness community for people of all ages!
